View Full Version : Drawing list - separating headers

I have a drawing list that is generated from multiple linked files. To control the sorting of this list (e.g. civil drawings come before architectural drawings), we’ve been using a number parameter called “Sheet Order” and it’s been working great for us so far. I recently found out that we need to add demo sheets to our set and that the project architect of course wants these “D” sheets in front of our “A” sheets. So I figured I could use the Sheet Order parameter and just change 3 to 3.1 for the demo sheets and 3.2 for the rest.

The problem I’ve been having with this is that now the 3.1 and 3.2 sheets are breaking out into separate groups with different headings, even though the headings are determined by my “Discipline” parameter and that parameter is the same for all of the sheets. Does anyone know of any way I can correct this behavior, and get my “D” sheets and “A” sheets under the same heading but still sorted by the "Sheet Order" number? Thanks in advance.

The system you are using does not allow for that kind of grouping such as demolition sheets D1, D2, D3,... going first than A1, A2, A3,... in the same set. You may want to try this other system which includes a number parameter for "Sheet Set", such as 1,2,3,... and another number parameter for "Sheet Order", such as 1.1, 1.2, 1.3,... ; by doing this, the list will always be in order, and will allow variations in the alphabetical sequence in the Sheet Number column.

Now you can sort the schedule following this hierarchy:

1) Sheet Set (hidden field)
2) Discipline (with header)
3) Sheet Order (hidden field)

See illustration.
