What is the process to tag multiple finishes on one family? The example I have is we are trying to tag different material finishes to dooes such as panel and jamb that are different paint colors. We have many rooms which may have the same door family but different color panel and jamb. What would be the best approach to doing this?

What we may want to do is create a finish tag that the user can manually enter the finish similar to an attribute. How would this be done? I'm not sure what would be the best way to approach this?

Appreciate any help!

You could place a instance text parameter in your door family. This needs to be a "Shared Parameter". You then create a generic annotation family, create a label and add that same shared parameter to the label. The problem I noticed with having instance parameters being tagged is that you can't change the tag to drive the parameter. That means you'll always have to go into the element's instance properties to change the parameters. Or, from a schedule if you have one set up. You would need the parameter to be a "Shared Parameter" in order to be schedule-able.

You can also add multiple parameters to a label. I think this is really cool, because then you don't have to place several labels and worry if they are going to flex correctly.

I hope this helps you,
