As normal the help.cab hasn't installed and so finding out how to use things is becoming problematic.

I want to implement the grid guides on our sheets but in the properties box it just says NONE and i can't work out if i need to load one into the project/family or if i have to draw/create one???

can anyone help?

When you're on a sheet, go to Views > Sheet Composition > Grid Guides.

It'll just drop a grid on your sheet, you can resize, move, and make the grid more or less dense.

Once it's created, you can select it for any sheet.

Also note that they are designed to work with the crop region. So that needs to be available to snap to the grid.

Crop regions and other datum, such as grid lines and level lines.

Also once the view is on the sheet I noticed you have to use the move command to get it to snap. No nudging or dragging and dropping once its on.

This should get you up to speed on grid guides.

Also odd that you can't use the align tool. Gotta use Move.

Uh... at the risk of appearing dim... How do I get it an existing grid to another sheet?

I've created one guide grid... let's call it 6x6. When I go to another sheet, how do I get that same grid?

I can't copy and paste from one sheet to another. When I click the Guide Grid button, I get a prompt to create a new type of guide grid. When I select the guide grid, I don't see the same type selector, to move from one to another.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone have any luck devising a way for drafting views to snap to the grid guides? Once placed on a sheet the crop region appears to 'pull' towards the guides, but the crop can't be manipulated in the actual drafting view. It's HALFWAY to a control method, but not quite there.... anyone have a graceful workaround? [grin]

Thanks in advance,

add a few ref planes in drafting view perhaps?

Yes, that is the solution. Since grids and levels are not available in drafting views, and the crop region is not available either, the only solution is to add a cross of reference planes. Then, on the sheet, we can select the viewport, and move it from a point in the reference plane to a line of the Guide grid. Excellent, thanks!
