We have an overall plan on which we do our work but does not show up on a sheet, but Dependent Views of this overall plan show up on sheets.
We adjusted callout heads on our overall plan, expecting to see the change reflected in the dependent views, but they didn't. Why is this happening and is there a way to adjust them in an overall plan?
Thank you in advance!

It depends upon what you are adjusting, and if they are just referencing another view, or if they actually created the view. Adjusting where the head is in relation to other things, No, there is no global adjustment. If they created the view, and you are adjusting the box, then yes, is should be changing.

Thank you for your response, Scott! I read another thread which touched on this issue: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=114455&highlight=callout+dependent+view. In this thread according to sthedens,
“My guess is you are using dependent views to place the floor plans on sheets. The location of the callout references is dependent view specific, i.e. you have to open the dependent view and move the reference where you need it. Doing it in the overall floor plan view does not effect the dependent views. This was a purposeful decision by Autodesk (as opposed to a bug). When you have a callout near a matchline, the location of the reference may need to be different on each of the sheets.”
I guess this isn’t a problem so much as it is a matter of me learning the program. I just wasn’t aware that there were any graphic differences between a parent view and a dependent view. From now on I will just adjust callout tags or heads in the dependent view that actually appears on the sheet.
Am I understanding this correctly or is there anything that I am missing?

Nope, you essentially got it correct. In the 2010 and earlier products, placing the section/callout in the dependants meas it will NOT appear in the parent or in the other dependants. Placing it (creation) in the parent means that it will appear in all dependants where it is visible.
I'm guessing that some of this is because you still have the option to hide something in a dependant view via the right-click independantly from other views. The normal behavior for callouts, section and detail marks is that, as long as the bounding box of the partial view is not changed, all other items are "adjustable" per view. This was maintained for dependant views.
