Is it possible to make Dynamic Blocks with a Cylinder? and have grips to lengthen or shorten it?

comes down to parts lists for the drawings I do. I have blocks/Xref's for almost all of the items used in the drawings I do, except for piping.

I do a dataextraction and build my parts list, but then I have to go and measure each length of pipe.

I was hoping to add that to the extraction and get a total length of the pipe that I use.

any ideas?

The last time I enquired, dynamic blocks didn't handle solids. :)
You could use a normal block arranged so that the length of the pipe is the z-value (probably 1000 (= 1 metre)) then use the block with x-scale = 1, y-scale = 1 and z-scale = pipe run length.

yeah I was thinking they did not work with 3d prims... I tried and tried and just got frustrated.
but I will try your suggestion. that sounds promising.

I managed to make a Dynamic block with a linear scale.
I drop the block on the base point of the pipe grip drag the length.

works well with the data extraction.
