Let me start with a disclaimer: I'm sort of a "newbie" in that I'm returning to AutoCAD after using other CAD programs for about 8 years. I'm sorry if this is a dirt simple question--I did search the "Help" file and this forum first. Honest...

Lately I've noticed that whenever I draw anything it always appears with the linetype set to "Continuous". This is regardless of the linetype for the active layer being set to some other line type and having selected "By Layer" in the Linetype Manger.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't happening before. I'm getting tired of having to change the linetype all the time.

What I want to happen is for the linetype for new objects to be "By Layer". What am I doing wrong?

Best regards,
Andy Hall

Set CELTYPE to "Bylayer"

If it's already set to Bylayer, then maybe you need to adjust the various linetype scale variables (LTSCALE, MSLTSCALE, PSLTSCALE), so that the linetypes appear correctly...?

That did it. Thanks!

Hi,
I came across this post, and wanted to share my use of this comand. The attached image is a command on the toolpalette that draws a pline to a set layer and line type.

Untill now i had now way of setting it to load the linetype and stay bylayer instead to by the linetype specified.

Thanks heaps, and i hope others can use it the same whay i have..

Cheers.
