View Full Version : FBX 2011 file don't work in 3ds max 2011
When I import or link a FBX file in 3ds max 2011, nothing seems to happen. I just get a blank screen with no geometry as if i didn't import anything. It seems to only import very small files.
Looking at the FBX import instructional videos on youtube, they seem to only import small buildings. Is there a limit in files size when using the FBX file extension?
EDIT: apparently, 3ds max doesn't import dwg either.

Interesting. We're still using Revit 2010 to fbx export to Max 2011, and it's working as expected. You had success with fbx in previous releases of Revit?

I experienced the same thing. Turned off RPC and Entourage objects and it worked fine.

AP,
How big was your file? I had that happen when I tried to import a large file (a 46MB Revit file, turned into a 30MB FBX), but that file has a ton of stuff in it, and I wasn't sure if something else in that file was generating the problem.
This thread should probably be in the Rendering Forum
Strangely enough, turning off RPC and Entourage seems to work. Man, I would have never figured that out on my own.
File size doesn't seems to matter in this case.

I don't think I had either one. But, I had a downloaded ACAD site drawing, and some other stuff. Will have to fool around with it.
But, isn't it strange that RCP would be a problem?...

Isn't the Archvision RPC a separate plugin that needs to be installed independently from the default Max install? I don't use RPC but seem to recall it being around in the additional plugins on the Max dvd in the past.
