I have a whole slew of symbol annotations in a note block which I need to edit the family names for each one. I have the schedule with Type and Number fields listed, but nothing happens when I try to type in the Type field.
This will be very annoying if I have to go through and edit each family type individually through the Type Properties dialog.

How about if you do this:
In the Note Block schedule > Fields > Add parameter > (Add an instance parameter named as "Description" or "Name"). OK
In the schedule, now you can type anything in this new column.
Now, if you want, hide the column that contains the Family Type name, by doing Format > (select Type column) > Hidden field.

You can rename Types in the project browser - scroll down to the family you want, expand it and you can rename the types by clicking twice (or pressing F2), just like a file in Explorer.

Okay, F2 works. Double clicking just brings up the Type Properties window, and then I'd have to slide over and click Rename to rename the family. So F2 it is.

When I say click twice I mean click one to select, then wait a little, then click again to rename. Just like in Windows Explorer.

heh that doesn't work either. If a family type is highlighted in the project browser, and you click on it once, the type properties still comes up. To rename you have to either hit F2 or right-click > Rename.
