Revit needs to change component listing

I'm sure you are all having problems with this. Revit needs to change the way it list components in the drop down. Currently, it is by family name. It should be by category then family name.

Really hard to find anything!

It's funny that you mention this because we are having to consider this exact topic as we discuss our family naming conventions. We are coming off of project that has a ton of custom families and finding what you need takes at least 6 months of experience in the model just to know where in the list to find!

You are one hundred percent correct. Our naming convetion has Family Catagory first.

twice... yes - we are naming by category first too but nobody else does - not Revit and no other content builders. I do not like the idea of having to rename everything...

We open and alter everything before it makes its way in to our projects anyway, to make sure it adheres to our standards. So renaming isnt a big deal.
