What would be the recommended way to create a parking structure partial height wall with a railing that sits on the top of this wall? I need for the wall/rail to also follow the slope of the floor or ramp going up to the next levels so I'm trying to determine if this can be done as a family or if it needs to be a combination of different elements (walls/rail/profiles)?

The partial height wall has some vertical and horizontal reveals at the exterior. I'll try to post an image of the profile section to give an idea of how the wall/railing is intended to look.

Just finished a Parking structure in Revit...

In our case we did the wall you are talking about with a in place family, using Sweeps with the path following the profile. We did one for each side. We also created Profile families prior to doing this of the elements within the wall... to create this wall... Glad we did... As with any project... this profile change many times... but we were able to show off... because all we had to do was correct the profile and reload it and all the walls corrected themselves... reveals and all... height changes... and other fun...

Revit was a very fun tool to use on a parking Garage... many more challenges than the flat building plans... but I still enjoyed it I think we proved it as a winning tool once again (1st garage in this office in Revit...)

Enjoy... :)

Oops, thanks for reminding me. See attached image.Again, what I'm trying to do is create a partial height parking wall and railing attached to the top of the wall with a profile of the objects shaded in light and dark gray. For portions of the parking structure this wall may be on a somewhat flat level but in the ramp areas this profile will need to follow the slope of the ramp. How should this wall be constructed in Revit to comply with these requirements?

I still stand by what I said... It would work with this... You would need separate profiles for each different material item you would want to incorporate into the sweep... I would make one sweep item when making the inplace family... then copy the item and paste it into the same location... then modify the pasted item... replacing the profile with one of your other profiles... and change the materials... You can also use Voids to cut out column locations... or if these intersect at a corner condition... create a 45 deg. cut on the corner... so the adjoining inplace family will line up with it... and finish around the corner...

I hope this helps...

One more thing... Do all these bits multiple sweeps to make your wall... in one in place family... with any voids required... using premade profiles... Remember if the profile changes... all you have to do is reload the profiles... and they will redefine the whole model...

That is the Revit Fun... :)

Thanks we'll try this method. Would you be able to recommend how we should model our ramp transitions from one level to the next? Should we use a ramp or a sloped floor? We noticed that with ramps we can't trim around columns to make them look clean and finished. Any suggestions on that? Thanks again. :)

For a clean cut between columns and ramps, use slabs with slopes instead, then join geometry.
