is there a way to create an alignment that does not automatically create curves.

I'm working on a simple pipe alignment and profile.

I've never actually used the pipes tools, and don't really want to right now...unless it's super duper easy, i just don't have a lot of time

Is there a style setting that have missed for regular alignments?

Thanks
Eve

Another thing I should note, the pipe alignment has 7 bends in it. On the first four the alignment follows the curve that was automatically created. On the last three, no curves were created and the alignment follows through the bends.

I don't know if that was a computer glitch or what

figured it out, just use Edit Alignment Geometry!

I did try to use it at first, but the tool bar was greyed out so I couldn't use the tools.

I restarted and was able to use the geometry tools!!

Great job Eve! You're the BEST!

Welcome to the world of Civil 3D!

You must have been trying to use "Create Alignment From Objects", eh?

When you use that command, it will pop up a settings dialog, where you enter the Alignment Name and all that. Near the bottom is a checkbox that says "Add curves between tangents", with a "Default radius" that is, by default, set to 200'. So if you simply created your Alignment with the default settings, you added 200' curves between each tangent segment. If the tangent segments for a given PI are not long enough for a horizontal curve with a 200' radius, then no curve gets created at that PI.

If you don't like the default values of "Add curves" and "Default radius", you can change the default settings for this command in Toolspace -> Settings tab -> Alignment -> Commands -> CreateAlignmentEntities. (Make sure to change this value in your template, so that it's set the way you want it in all newly-created drawings.)

And of course, as you discovered, you can always edit an Alignment after you create it.
