i may be getting a little ahead of myself (eric wings revit 2010 im studying may cover it) asking about this.. but i worked in archicad for awhile.. and it wasnt very good at all when it came to presenting a file out of archicad.. we had the ability to produce a 3-d image.. but when trying to email it the file was huge, and took a while to produce...

does revit do a good job with having the capability to produce an jpg/slide/pdf.. etc of an image.. i think pdf has the capability to present 3-d images and interact with the image.. not just look at it.. rotate, spin.. etc

just curious of its presenting capabilities outside the core program

thanks

Well, here's a 17MB Revit file saved as a DWFX file. And it's 339KB now. Does that answer your question?

The software needed to view the file is free:

As already shown, DWF and DWFx are options.

DWF requires a free program called Design Review to view it, or an online service called Project Freewheel. (here's a video on Freewheel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWr5OmYQpiM)

DWFx can be read natively on any Windows Vista or 7 machine.

Another alternative is to use NWC files and Navisworks Freedom: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=10571060

Each of these is a lightweight file format. Both Design Review/Freewheel and Navisworks have mark up capabilities. The free version of Navisworks (Freedom) is a viewer, while Navisworks Simulate and Manage can do much more like construction simulations and clash detection.
