I have finally gotten comfortable with drawing in revit and then I went to try to do structural analysis, but how do you use the revit model in ram concepts or any other program? I can't find anything on how to export the model or link it or anything.
You can export the Revit file yto E-Tabs or Robot Structural Analysis with some degree of ease.
To export to Robot Structural analysis you will need to download and install the Revit Extensions (available via Autodesk to all subscription customers)
To export to E-Tabs you will have to install the extension to export the Revit model to an EXR file. http://www.csiberkeley.com/Revit/ (You will have to contact your local CSI reseller to access the download)
To export to RAM you will have to install the RAM export tools, they can be downloaded here: http://www.bentley.com/en-US/Promo/Structural+Team/RSS+Revit.htm
and follow the guidelines in this linnk http://communities.bentley.com/products/structural/structural_analysis___design/w/Structural_Analysis_and_Design__Wiki/ram-revit-link-best-practices.aspx
To export a Revit model to STAAD Pro you will have to purchase the extension from the following website: http://structuralintegrators.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=30&osCsid=6e15a4f90be4d6521c7562b8c9e95859
While it is viewed that ROBOT is currently the most "reliable" and easiest analytical package to use with Revit, I have heard some talk of Autodesk opening up Revit to all external companies to develop thier own links between analytical packages and Revit.
Hopefully this helps.

Glenn's sort of correct. BUt you don't have to purchase anything to export from Revit to Staad; just use the lite version of the SI plug-in.
To go from staad to Revit would require you to purchase the PRO version.

With RAM concept the link for RSS is useless. RSS does not recognise slabs from Revit, atleast it didn't a couple of releases ago, it may now but I doubt it will be further updated with the ISM focus for all Bentley engineering integration.
You need to use the ISM sync tool from bentley in order to transfer this to RAM concept.
It works quite well as a checker and updater.
The same is for Staad pro, the ISM tool is far more reliable for inter-operation storage of models then buying a system, I found it quite reliable.
ISM is free and from bentley.
ETABS is flaky at best and as yet does not support 2011. We have to IFC our models back to 2010 then use the ETABS tool.
Fortunately we have an inhouse cusomised add-on for ETABS for our analysis so this has always been very easy for us in correction and use of ETABs for analysis, and brining in our data.
