View Full Version : MEP Objects not showing correctly

I've recieved electrical drawings for a Job that were done in MEP 2010. We use ACAD 2010. I've posted a couple of views, one plan, the other Iso. As you can see, the electricians conduit (green) shows up as a single line in plan view, but in Iso View, it shows up correctly at the right elevation. We also use Navisworks Jetstream V5 for faster 3D viewing of the jobs and to find conflicts easier. But again, the Electricians drawing, which is xreffed in, only shows up as single lines, and ALSO, at zero elevation in Navisworks. That truly baffles me that the conduit has no elevation in one program, but is located correctly in the other. Any thoughts?

You need to have the object enablers installed for Navisworks. But it is usually better to ask the consultants to create the Navisworks model, if they have the ability, so they know if anything is missing.

That doesn't resolve the issue I'm having with Autocad, though. Those jpegs are autocad shots in Realistic Shademode and what I'm wondering is why it shows up as a single line in Plan View but as a solid and elevated in Iso View. I do have "Check Web for Live Enablers" on. Mine isn't the only machine in the office this is happening to. Also, I'm looking at it on my Home Computer as I type this response (Faster than my office computer but running ACAD 2009, office uses 2010) and it's even different than my Office Computer. I've attached a couple of shots of what it looks like from my Home Computer. First two are 2D Wiremode, second two are taken with Realistic Shademode applied. One problem is it's difficult to coordinate with the electrician trying to find conflicts but the main problem is that I'm responsible for the Composite Drawings for this job involving all the trades. As you can see in Realistic mode, the electricians conduit disappears completely and only the Junction Box is still seen. I 2D Wireframe, the conduit is there but in Iso View, it's not elevated. I forgot to mention...the Conduit is Green.

OK so I did some searching and found out that the Proxynotice was set to 0. I set that to 1 to enable the warning dialog box. The electrician told me he used AutoCAD MEP 2010 to create his drawing but the dialog box says the Product Description: Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2007 & AutoCAD MEP 2008 with lists of the missing apps. I went to the Autodesk website and downloaded the AutoCAD MEP 2009 Object Enabler (64 bit) & AutoCAD Architecture 2009 Object Enabler (64 bit), installed them, but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. Now I'm at a loss as to what to do.

You also cannot enable objects if they came from a version of AutoCAD MEP greater than your version.
That said: It sounds like you are expecting 3D representation in plan view, which is not how MEP normally displays objects in plan view. You would need to change the display representation of the plan view to a set that displays the 3D models.
