schedule font

I can't seem to figure out how to get the proper font in my drawing list schedule. I'm trying to use the office standard "futura", but it doesn't appear on the font list under the appearance tab.

I have other text styles in the project that are using futura, so I'm a bit confused to why it isn't available. Wouldn't the font already be loaded into the project?

Revit and AutoCAD only read True Type Fonts (Well AutoCAD reads SHX of course as well)...so if you have Open Type Fonts or PFM which is what my Futura is then Revit wont read it.

You can try to use a font editor like Type Tool to convert it, but it gives mixed results. Your best bet is to find a font as similar to the font your looking at that is a TTF format font.

EDIT: Hmm....guess I do have some Futura fonts that are TTF....and they show up in my Drawing List Appearance settings....

After almost two weeks trying to get a way to use opentype fonts in revit, I finally found a decent (and freeware!) software to do the job.
The problem is that some opentype fonts have truetype outlines, and others (the problem ones) come with postscript outlines.
So, from cr8 software solutions (http://www.cr8software.net), you can get Type light (http://www.cr8software.net/typelight.html) that converts otf fonts with postscript outlines into TTF fonts.

I had the same problem and converted the fonts I needed.

it looked like futura was not installed on my machine after all. however I'm still confused as to why I was able to use futura text styles that I had copied from another project. I guess when a font is used in revit, it must store those font files with the project.

No, it doesnt. But, if you try to use a text style and its not there, itll go back to the system default. In a schedule, it wont...
