I would like to create interior elevations of stairs. Most of the stairs in our project are not at right angles, which makes creating the views difficult in Revit. How can I align the elevation with the side of the stair? The interior elevation tool does not even snap to the stair. I could use the section tool, but there must be a less-circuitous way to do this.

You could trick it but adding a segment of wall parallel to your run of stairs then place the elevation tag, which will snap to the wall segment. Once its placed then delete the wall segement. Goofy that it doesn't align to stairs automatically

Place a reference plane parallel to the elevation view you want and the view tag will snap perpendicularly to the plane.

if you know the angle off-axis, you can just highlight the section / elevation and rotate it that degree

does the same thing as eric.piotrowicz's option
