I've got a user here with a myriad of problems that started yesterday. First off let me say that PICKFIRST is set to 1. Here are the problems.

To edit text (MTEXT or DTEXT) he must click 3 times. The first double click issues the edit command and then AC prompts to select objects. (PICKFIRST is set to 1).

When using COPYBASE, he selects the object, issues the COPYBASE command, AC prompts for point and then objects (PICKFIRST is set to 1). Ctrl+C is doing the same thing.

I've written a lisp for ductwork that takes a single polyline and converts it to double polylines with bends at the vertices. This command has also stopped working and throws an "Invalid selection." error, probably after the offset command.

I think these issues are all related but I can't figure out how. I tried some system variables and options but the problems persist. Any thoughts?

Michael

edit: I'd like to go further and say that when using move, rotate, erase, etc. the user is allowed to select the objects first. So far this is only affecting text edit and copybase/Ctrl+C

You'll never guess what fixed the problem. Restoring the PC back a month. Autocad had sent this user an upgrade that created more problems than it fixed. If anyone experiences similar issues, this could be the cause.

What version of AutoCAD? What was the update? Warning that some unidentified update for an unidentified version of AutoCAD caused the problem isn't going to help anyone very much.

I was stating an issue and what I did to fix it. I wasn't issuing a warning. I guess if I was it'd be "if anyone ever updates or upgrades ANY version of Autocad EVER, it may cause problems." If you're into the particulars, the previous version was D.215.0.0 Autocad 2010 English Version 2. The upgrade was D.300.0.0 Autocad 2010 English Version 3. Is that more helpful?

By the way, I just installed the update on my vanilla version of AutoCAD 2010 and I'm not having the trouble mentioned here.

If anyone else has this problem, try changing the "QAFLAGS" system variable to "0".
