Anyone know if this can be done?

create new project parameter which is text, type or instance depending on your needs.
in Properties, you have to manually input workset value instead of using formula because formula doesn't support text, don't know why Autodesk cannot make it happen?!

Hmm. Got it. Thanks, but I was hoping I could leverage the Workset drop-down box in the Elements Properties Dialogue box.
Thanks!

Interesting. You would think "Workset" would be a basic parameter that Revit could put into schedules (or I would think that).

I've thought the same thing. Revit knows what the workset is, I can see it in the element properties, so why not be able to display it in a schedule. I think this would be very helpful to have. It would be really handy for sorting and grouping and quickly identifying items on the wrong workset. I think just about every parameter in each family should be allowed to be displayed in schedules.
On another note, why is the Workset tab the only one missing from visibility graphics overrides settings for View Templates? I think every other view property but Worksets can be set in the View Templates.

No, there are several others not accessible in viewteplates, but I agree that Worksets should be controllable by view templates. Interestingly, in 2011, the worksets of a linked file can be acessed and controlled by a view template, but not the worksets in the main model.
The probably have not been made accessible, due to the original intent of Worksets and checking them out to edit the file. Since this is no longer necessary, worksets are often used for visibility control, which was not the original function.
