I am still a Revit novice and am having some difficulties. More particularly, I can't seem to figure out how to get a girder to show up in elevation. It appears as just a stick symbol, hovering above the columns. It is an exposed girder on a covered porch. Any body know what I am doing wrong? Many thanks for whatever help you can offer.

probably change the detail level. Most of the structural families are made to show up as stick symbols at coarse detail.

More specifically, you can override just the detail level of Structural members through your Visibility/Graphics settings of the view.

Can I have structural elements that are to be exposed show up in reflected clg plan as well?

Yes, just check your Visibility/Graphics settings for the Ceiling Plan. I believe Structural Framing is turned off by default. Once you have your Ceiling Plan looking the way you want, save a View Template for use on other Ceiling Plans.
