I am having a plotting problem with an HP Designjet 500 - AutoCAD 2002 LT setup. I am plotting a series of drawings using 24" rolled paper in the ARCH D size using the PORTRAIT setting. (The drawings are rotated 90 degrees in model space - it worked for me). When the drawings plot, the image ends about 2/3's across the paper (on the 24" dimension) and the part that does plot is at a larger scale than it should be. When I look at PLOT PREVIEW it shows me a correct layout. I have tried to start over with page setup again as this has worked for me in the past. I have also deleted the viewport in LAYOUT and drawn a new one. These drawings used plot correctly using these settings and I am not sure what has changed since I was last at work. I have noticed that AutoCAD sometimes copies layout settings from previously used plots and then applies them to drawings that have been saved differently. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. In the meantime I will continue to seach through this forum and the Help at HP.

Some things you might keep in mind. I use an HP 800 which I believe is similar to the 500. If your plot device supports scaling the plot make sure that is not turned on. In fact make sure that no one has messed with the setting in the plotter. Second, does your plotter support larger rolls then the 24" roll. If so, the paper size would be Arch D (portrait) and the drawing orientation would also be portrait if I understood your post correctly.

You understood correctly. I had the plotter set up for Portraits using a 24" roll to plot ARCH D in Portrait. It can handle up to 42" rolls, but 24" inch is what I found to be workable for our prints. It is very possible that the plot settings were changed because this is a shared computer using a rigged network setup. Well, thankfully our IT guy came and fixed the problem for me. Here's the note he left me:

"I was out on Wednesday and set the properties for the DJ 500 Plotter to auto rotate the image on the media and set the plotter up for the 24 inch media roll. I told the plotter that it was using the arch d roll. I also set up the drawing to plot out in Portrait / Landscape from the printer setup / print preview pane. This seemed to correct the problem. I also uninstalled some Windows components, as well as reconfiguring the Network Settings. This seems to allow the PC to work much faster than it did previously. Please let me know if you have any additional problems."

It works now. Thanks Mike for the information, I'll take a look at those threads.
