As the title asks. I want to customize this line pattern and none of the patterns I tried seem to affect it.

There are several line patterns, that is one that is effectively hard coded intoi the program. What you can do is define some of your own variations of the line pattern. Then once these are defined, go to the Line styles (Manage\Other Settings in 2010 and later) and there you can substitute your own defined patterns for this one there. Whatever you choose, you may want to do this in your templates as well.

Haven't figured out how to substitute my own. But I did figure out that it is using the "Dash" line pattern, by deleting selective patterns.
Also creating a new type with the same name did not bring it back .
So since our template already has [Dash 1/8"] which is the same definition of [Dash] I'm renaming [Dash] to [Dash (system)] or something similar and redefining the dashes/spaces to show as I want.

I've been searching for the same setting...it happens to be many.
In Object Styles, under each Category, you will find "Hidden Lines" with the Line Pattern used Dash (or in DoTheBIM's case Dash (System)). Change all of these and watch it change through out your project.
