View Full Version : Wall Patterns Per View?

Oh boy! Here's another PM nightmare I was handed. Some times I think the best answer is to just slap them. ;)

My building has CMU walls that go up two story. I used a typical CMU diagonal pattern for the walls in the plan view, you know, the way it should be. Well, evidently he doesn't want to see the CMU pattern on the second floor. Is there a way to turn it off only in a specific view or am I looking at a stacked wall? :? Not that it is a problem, I know how to do the stacked walls, I have several in this project already. I just want the short cut if there is one.

If you created the CMU wall as its own wall type you can select all of them and override the cut pattern for that view....

(I tend to keep my CMU and Concrete walls as its own wall type so I don't have to change wall types room to room)

Oh yea, I hadn't thought about overriding the pattern for the view. Thanks!

In the end, he changed the section so I needed a stacked wall any way. :banghead:

:banghead: I swear, PMs hate me! :banghead:

Now they seem to want different patterns per view and per wall, per view. How are you guys dealing with these type of requests?

And do you know anyone near me who might be hiring? Seriously. . .

Same way, overide in view, but that sounds really odd to me.

I agree with Dave. ;) (Although 'requesting' that they give their own head a shake, unassisted, might work out better from a long term employment standpoint)
Before creating some crazy procedure ask your PM what information he is trying convey and why he feels representing a wall type in different ways in different views conveys that information more clearly. If it still makes sense to do what he wants then filters based on wall type names is probably the best approach to make it easy and consistent to apply.
