When we create really wide line types in Revit for wall ratings, etc. the dashes have curved ends. Our PM wants the segments to have sq edge. We would rather spend an enitre week doing this than improving our design and reducing drawing errors.

I seem to remember soemone did this but not sure if it was here or in a Blog.

You have to create some kind of 2-pick repeating detail component with rectangular filled regions for the "dashes" and "lines" of this line type you want. The width (weight) of this "line" will be dependent on your view scale. So you'd have to have a width parameter and different types for every view scale it's used in.

Revit is all about rounded line ends. Squared off is not possible. IMHO people who complain about this need to get their head out of archaic CAD standards and focus on more important issues. The information will still be viewed and understood by others in EXACTLY the same way.

*edit* just read the post again and see you're doing this for wall ratings. We use a hatch pattern consisting of many lines very close together in various groups that gives a pretty good replication of fire tape lines. When printed the lines appear as solid hatch patterns. I got the hatch patterns from someone here on AUGI who posted them years ago.
