Snap Problems

Snap Problem may not be the best title for the problem I am having but I could not think of what else to call it. I have a beam that is close to but does not attach directly to a column. However, when the beam is within approximately one foot of the column it automatically snaps to the column centerline. I recall seeing a post about this but I can not find it. Does anyone know how to prevent the beam from snapping (or attaching) to the column?

I do not think the TREAD you referenced addresses my particular problem. It may be that I did not describe it well enough. The end of a beam placed in plan automatically attaches to a column when the end of the beam is close to the column (within 6 to 12 inches).
