A curious situation.
I've opened up the Reflected Ceiling Plan of one level from a model for the first time. The View Properties strangely shows the Underlay Orientation as "Plan" and ghosted (i.e. unable to change). On another level the Ceiling plan shows the Underlay Orientation as "Reflected Celing Plan" and it too is ghosted. Have I inadvertantly flicked some setting? I'm trying to get the RCP's to all show "Reflected Ceiling Plan" as the Underlay orientation - I assume I'm correct in heading that way?

Actually, the default values for a reflected ceiling plan are these:

Underlay : none
Underlay orientation : reflected ceiling plan (grayed out)

These two settings are connected. "Underlay orientation" becomes available for change only when "Underlay" is not "none". However, the default values mentioned above, combined with the default view range settings for a reflected ceiling plan view, work correctly.

Sorry, but that's exactly what is not happening (see screen capture below)

Ah! Hang on... When the "Underlay" is set to something OTHER than "None" you can then change the "Underlay Orientation" to "Reflected Ceiling Plan" :-). Excellent!...I misread your post, Alfredo! Thanks.!
