Based on standard dwgs.. the CMU line should continue.. but what i have shows the cmu line trimmed out at the stud wall.. in revit is this normal? (see pic below).. if not, please educate on how to fix this... also, if theres a tutorial u can point me to that gives typical situations and how to get to them, or fix them.. please show me where that is too

Select the stud wall at CMU location, highlight the blue dot at the end, right click and choose disallow join.

Then for the stud to stud join, use the wall join tool to cycle thru various join options.
When in doubt, drag the walls away from each other, then use trim/extend.

Or drag the wall across the other, then drag back to where you want it to join.

just a few tips which seem to help when I've had these problems.

Not sure where a good tutorial is on wall joins......

how do i approach it when i start a new wall.. so this happens automatically.. (stud wall to cmu wall)

Select disallow join in the wall properties first when placing the walls?

just a thought. Another tip is to use the Align command.
