I am trying to put a column inside of a wall and Revit is not cooperating. Is this possible? The wall is not a bearing wall and the column is necessary.

Can you be a bit more specific, - stuctural column, architectural column, what message are you getting ?

If its a structural column, it will insert with its top at the level you are placing it. Check in a 3D view.

Matt,

Its also good to use a column grid. Even if you're placing a few columns (you can always turn them off in views). They will tend to 'stick' at the intersection of grid lines.

Hey Matt,

Regarding columns, the standard architectural ones in the modeling "columns" tab, tend to merge with walls if placed inside of them. If you click on the "unjoin" tool and then the column, it will usually become visible inside of the wall.

Good Luck
