So... In previous versions of Revit, we could Copy / Monitor Slabs, but not Slab Edges.

I had hoped this would change in 2011. But in my mini test run, I could not copy / monitor slab edges.

This is going to be problematic for us, as we are planning to use slab edges for several conditions, such as curbs and other edge details. If our structural engineer can't copy / monitor, then our models will not represent the same condition.

Does anyone have a good work around for this?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bryan

Bryan, I'm afraid I don't have any great explaination. All I can do is provide a long-winded explaination of what our firm is doing.

What we (architect's) have worked out with our consulting structural engineers, is that we are staring with a generic slab on grade. then it gets copy monitored by structural, changing it into their slab on grade. We'll then change our slabs to a 1/64" finished surface, airspace, and the gravel under the slab, so their slab shows through. Recently I've gotten them to add the gravel into their slabs as a finish under the concrete, to simplify the process. The point is, the structural can then use slab edges, there is no conflict with the architectural, and no chance of "double" counting the concrete by a CM using Navisworks.

Thanks for the response, Scott.

So if I understand, you ask the structural engineer to model all of the curbs?

Yes. The "logic" I had when they initially hesitated was that it is connected top their slab, and the curb if on the edge has additional repar in it. therefore it is a part of their work.
