View Full Version : rpc into RAC 2011
I was thinking of subscribing to one of the Archvision packages for 3DS Max Design 2011 but wondered if you can bring the rpcs into Revit as well.
Then I came across this recent thread in RevitCity which mentions a bug specific to RAC2011 if there are too many rpcs on the ACM path (whatever that means).

So, I guess you can use purchased rpcs in Revit but anyone come across that problem?

I use the "All Access" subscription for RPC's for revit. Get the ultimate one that includes the moving ones for 3ds. You can use them in revit but they will be stills. I absolutely love the way it creates a unique mesh for each rpc.
Thanks Scott,
I've signed up for the 2 week trial.
Is there any reason to have the Ultimate rather than Standard bundle if I don't do animation - I only ever render still images?

I am suffering through the bug now. Revit 2011 won't work for me with the RPC library. I have had to turn it off. Supposedly, the first service release will fix this, but who knows when that will be.
I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. RPCs may work better on other operating systems. However, for now, Revit is limited to about 300 RPCs.
I have filed service requests with Revit and ArchVision. Basically, I've been told to wait on the service release for a fix.
Thanks Bill,
at least we know a fix will come - SP1 can't be that far off?
Bit of a strange bug though.

Well, Revit 2011 web update number 1 is here. I installed it. Problem persists.
The RPC issue was not repaired. (At least for me.)
and I also installed the Hotfix for 3ds Max Design 2011 which is meant to allow fbx imports from Revit 2011 containing rpcs to come into 3dsMD2011... but it doesn't for me so far.
Seems a bit of a mess at the moment.
RAC2011 with rpcs into 3ds Max Design 2011 via FBX does now work for me - maybe it needed a reboot after all the updates and hotfix etc.
All I need to figure out now is why the rpcs come into 3dsMD2011 about 10 or 100 (?) x the size of the Revit model.
Do I recall something about one or other needing to be in feet and inches ?
