So, does anyone know how to change the surface pattern for ducts in Revit 2011? Seems like you can change mechanical equipment, but not ducts????

In Object Styles, click show categories from all disciplines, go to Ducts,
and change the material--in the attached example I made it orange plastic.

Yeah, tried that - still no color. These ducts are in a linked file, don't know if that makes a difference. But the link is set to by host view.

Well-you did not mention the linked file in the first post........

So--if you have access to the linked model, open it and use Object Styles
to change the material.

If not, ask the MEP eng. to do it--or, depending on if MEP is in house or an outside consultant at a remote office--open the MEP file over the WAN and make the change,
( I don't know if they care what color their ducts are?)

or have it posted to FTP, download, make change and link it in.

I don't think you can over ride the elements or category in a linked file?

cheers

Thanks. Definitely would be a pain to update the file each time we get an updated file. Plus, this would be a global change. Would be nice to be able to control it per view liike virtually everything else. What is so special about ductwork?

Filters and using a solid hatch will give u the sult you want. That way you can align them to systems aswell.
