roof shadow on plan

how do i set up a plan view to show the shadow cast by the roof and ceiling?
I would like to assess the light entering through a roof window onto the floor area??

I think this is not possible yet. Only visible and opaque surfaces cast shadows, therefore there is no way to see the shadows produced by the roof inside the rooms of a floor plan, since in order to see the floor plan, the roof has to be transparent or above the cutting plan. As soon has the roof is cut or hidden by any method, the shadows cast by the roof disappear.
