Sloped eyebrow dormer

I am trying to create a sloping eyebrow dormer by using roof extrusion.

Created a ref plane the angle I want but when I start the roof by extrusion there are no planes in the pull down selection.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

sounds like maybe you already got it figured out, but as far as the reference planes not showing up, you have to name it first.
