Does anyone have some thoughts as to when one method should employed versus another? I realize that the Override Graphics in View has more possibilities, but with an element Visibility option it seems to make the Hide in View redundant.

Hide in view is easy: select object, type VH.

Override graphics in view is a select object, right click, click on overide, click on by element, open dialog, click on Visible check box, click ok.

There is nothing redundant here. We use element visibility settings in the family, in the project (object styles), in the view (VG) as well as individual over-rides in the view. All are important and are applied for different reasons.

Thanks for the input guys.
Scott,
Is it possible to change the VH shortcut, so that it turns off selected Elements? It seems that it defaults to Categories, but it would be nice to go back and forth.

Also, the reason I asked in the first place about the difference, is that someone in my office said that the Hide in View command sometimes has an issue with "hidden items" appearing while printing. However, I've never been able to duplicate this problem.

Cheers,
Ryan

I believe EH is the default shortcut for Hiding by Element. I'm not sure about 2011, but 2010 does allow you to make modifications to these contextual tab shortcuts.

All the the keyboard shortcut cutstomization ability carries over from 10 to 11, just gotta find the command and make sure that your desired shortcut isn't already in use for another command.
