Parameter formula

I'm trying to use a value from one parameter as the default value for another parameter. It feels like I'm not using the correct parameter type. What type of parameter should be used to plug into the formula of another. Thanks.

Units of the results of a formula must match the units of calculated parameter.

So if you have an area parameter you better end up with an area result from the formula.
