increments in a family

How do i set up increments of movement in a family? For instance, specific roof slopes instead of degrees. Thanks.

1st step is to set the project units to slope instead of degrees.

I have changed the units in the family to slope. But the type value is still degrees. I don't think I want the whole project set to slope. I'm not sure what the nest step is? Thanks.
