Hey.
Is there a way to make a drafting pattern transparent? I would like to have my foundation visible behind an earth pattern but not have to use linework to make my foundation lines visible.
Or a better way to do this?

I put the view in wireframe
Works for my foundation plans, and the filled region shows transparant
Hope it works for you

Not sure if this is better but I find it to be a little quicker and easier. I trace the foundations with drafting lines. It is relatively quick and you don't run into the problem of trying to pick the right line (when using the linework tool) where a number of them overlap. You can then use the "send to back" command to get the drafting pattern behind the lines.

If you don't want your view to display everything wireframe, just duplicate the view you need and make that one wireframe, then position it on your sheet exactly on top of the other one (which may be i.e. hidden lines), and turn off the categories you don't need in the visibility settings.
Don't think it works with solid patterns though...
