By joining two walls, you are able to place a windows which cuts through both walls. However, when the window hole is build by using voids instead of the wall opening, only the host wall cuts. Any suggestions

that void should be thick enough to cut both walls, well, by default, that void ONLY flush w/ exterior finish of (1st) wall, you may have to modify that window family, like adding void thickness parameter.

I locked the void to the interior reference plane which obviously would be the interior face of the outer wall. Adding an extra reference plane seems to work. Thanks

Adding an extra reference plane seems to work.

you mean only adding reference plane w/o thichness parameter will work? what if your 2nd wall is very very thick?

If that is the case, you will have to adjust the parameter to be as thick as the second wall
