I've modeled a door as an in-place family, assigned the proper category and given it some shared parameters such as width, height, materials.

Problem is I can't tag it or get it to appear in a schedule. Revit recognizes it as a door and even lets me select it when trying to "tag by category" but no tag shows up.

I'm well aware this is not the normal way to make door and tag and schedule them. I have one particularly unique door that I'm doing this for that would be a pain to try and make and integrate into the model via a typical family-based door.

thumbnail below shows the "door" highlighted

any thoughts?

An in-place component classified as a door can appear in the door schedule without any issues, as it has the same set of parameters that all doors have. For the Width and Height, you can just type in the values in the Type Properties window of the in-place door type; no need to add shared parameters.

The only issue is with tagging the element; tags don't recognize it, not even the multi-category tag. As a workaround, you could create a generic annotation family, similar to a door tag, and place it in front of your in-place door.
