Does anyone know the best way to utilize a microstation file in 3d studio max. We are doing a roadway design project and the 3d file or tin as the roadway people states uses microstation with geopack. there are all kind of export files in microstation even one for sketchup but nothing for max. I tried to use dwg, acis, and obj files and I get ****. the sketchup file comes in ok but I dont want to use another program to link.
Thanks in advance for any help
P.S. we have all ov these but the data from geopack is **** to utilize because geopack is a database and does not create any faces

If you are on subscription, you need to download and use the Dynamite VSP plugin for 3ds max design 2011. It will have an exporter for Bently products and allow you to take your data from there into 3ds max.

Steve Have you tried that. our guys stated that it only works if you use civil 3d. when you use microstation you have to make it another format land xml which jumbles the geometry.
I havent tried it myself but wanted to hear from the experts that have tried it.

While I haven't tried it from a bently product (no access to the software), I have tried it from civil 3d. There is a plugin that installs in both civil 3d and microstation to export to the dvsp format for import into 3ds max/dvsp.
Have they tried getting the plugin and seeing what happens?
There is a white paper to download along with the plugin that explains the best use of it.
Also, a better place to ask your specific question about whether the plugin will work with your dataset would be on the DVSP forum community. Signup is free.

Hopefully, one of these scenarios will help you figure out a path.
