I've read the lengthy thread on achieving "depth" in elevations/sections, and am going with the strategy of overiding the graphics of each element I need to push back. (I'm using Revit2011)
It seems to be working out ok thus far, with a combination of using halftones, and lineweight, and it seems I can get want I want. Sometimes I need to sketch over top, as in the case of an element such as an L-shaped balcony railing that I am cutting through, and want to see half in section, and the other faded off in the distance. (something to consider as I model subsequent projects.)
I have run into an issue though where I have a curved roof behind the section. I can select the roof and set is as a halftone, but I don't have the option to halftone the fascia and gutter associated with that roof as halftone or transparent.
