i'm trying to find the best way to put face based lighting fixture underside upper floor slab.

i have a house project which do not have ceiling so i converted OOTB ceiling based lighting fixture to face based, and try to put it in floor plan view directly, how to manipulate floor plan to make it happen?

well, initially i added redundant ceiling and placed OOTB ceiling based lighting fixtures into redundant ceiling plan, it works but not best solution.

in fact, i can also put these face based lighting fixtures into 3D view first, and move around in plan view later, again, not best solution.

any help will be very much appreciated.

Add a 'plain' type of ceiling at the same elevation of the underside of the slab. Then, insert your light fixture from a ceiling plan view.

thanks Alfredo, that's my initial method used, just wonder if there's better way of not using ceiling at all? or is it possible to manipulate floor plan view to make it happen?

edit: looks like orient view is the way out, but i still want to know if it's possible by just manipulating floor plan view?

You could place your lights on a work plane instead of ceiling.

right, as simple as that!
i forgot face based stuff is basically same as no host stuff, yet you can still choose face or plane based at project level.
many thanks.

Oh, so your 'redundant ceiling' and my 'plain type of ceiling at the bottom of the slab' were actually the same thing. So, now I understand, if you use a reference plane as the 'host' for your light fixtures, you don't have to do these 'plain', 'redundant' or dummy ceilings in every room in order to place the fixtures. Interesting.
