I am new to Revit. I am attempting to place WT bracing back-to-back. I place the braces and when I try to move them off of the center of the column, I get an error stating that the elements cannot remain joined, then the brace goes all wacky. How can I move the braces? Is this possible? Any help would be great.
Thanks.

Revit has some funny ideas about joins, and for pretty much any sort of bracing, I use the following process:
set some ref planes of where you want the brace.
isolate the brace then align or place it.
if it's already joined to something, allow it to un-join.
It would really be nice if we could set members unjoined like we do walls, maybe framing would play nicer that way, as it is, it is rather quirky at times.

If the Brace family is 'swept' based then the family will already contain Vertical and Horizontal offsets for the beam profile.
All you need to do is edit the family, click on the element properties for the beam, find the Horizontal offset parameter, click the small box to the right, assign an instance family parameter to this Horizontal profile offset. Load the family back into your project and click the brace, you can no offset if by the instance parameter..
This also keeps your analytical model correct without disconencting anything (should you require to pass to and throw an analyasic package etc.
Hope this helps,

If the bracing is grouped then placed separately if should not interact with the standard join conditions.
However katika is pretty much on the same path using reference planes to get the alignment solution.

Instead of using the 'bracing' tool to place it, you can also place it as a beam or column and that allows you a bit more freedom with end offsets for heights.
