lighting fixture label,tag

i want to edit a canlight (and other lighting) families to include a label or tag that will show in my reflected ceiling plans and schedule accordingly....can't seem to import label into can fixture

Instead of editing your lighting fixtures components to add a tag, you can create a lighting fixture tag family. Start from a Generic tag template, set its category as "Lighting fixtures", add a label for "Mark Type", then load into project > Tag all > Lighting fixtures. Then all your lights will be tagged. See illustration.

Or if you want them to all be tagged automatically, make a Generic Annotation, put the label in it, nest it in to the Light families, and tie the parameter to a Type parameter in the light fixture.

i tried the "generic model element tag" and got this warning

While loading family 'Generic Model Element Tag': Only the following kinds of families can be loaded into a 3d model family:
- 3d model families
- detail families

i will try other annotations

A Generic Annotation is not a Generic Model Tag.... Use a Generic Annotation.
