when you install Revit IIRC the installer asks if you want Imperial or Metric (and maybe both). You have installed Imperial Revit. I assume that you could do a reinstall and get the metric templates

is there a way to find them somewhere instead reinstalling the program?
thanks

What you could do is start a new generic window family and change the units of the family before you create it.

"units of the family" meaning 'project units', found on the manage tab. you may find it easier to simply download the metric templates, reinstalling shouldn't be neccessary.

I believe you can download the Templates & Libraries from here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=9262641
