I am trying to place a room tag in a plan region and no matter how I set the view range, the room tags respond to the bounding elements of the level below (or the parent view's level, I'm not sure which). How do I get the room tag to respond to the view range of the plan region?

...How do I get the room tag to respond to the view range of the plan region?...Sorry but they won't.

From Revit help...

The Plan Region command lets you define a region within a floor plan or RCP view that has a different view range from the overall view. Plan regions are useful for split level plans or for displaying inserts above or below the cut plane. Plan regions are closed sketches and cannot overlap one another. They can have coincident edges.

Can you make a new level used just for the area plans that manages to sit just at the right height to cut through all of the different plan region walls?

I see what you mean - that certainly is possible. However, I have to make other adjustments to my view range and have to add additional plan regions to make windows visible. I don't know how I will approach plan regions in the future. It seems that they are somewhat less useful than I originally thought.

Sorry to Drag up such an old thread but this problem is relative to my current predicament.

I have a building that is being designed on a sloped piece of land and the result is that there are three tiers of the building all with different Floor levels.

Until stumbling apon this thread I was trying to get room tags to behave correctly within a plan regions but this thread tell me that it cannot be done. However, I then tried a level that cuts all three tiers of my building so I could use this level to produce my room area plans. I cannot get this to work, two of my three tiers will work correctly with room area tags but the lowest tier does not.

The walls of this lowest tier have a base level of "LOWEST TIER FFL" which is 150mm and Top Constraint of "LOWEST TIER WALL PLATE" which is 2700mm.

My level which cuts all three tiers is set at 2630mm and my view range setting, cut plane is set to 1mm and top is set to 2mm but it is not recognising my walls for this lowest tier.

I know this sounds a little confusing but has anyone had any difficulties of this nature before. I have checked the walls base and top constraints and they are correct, anyone have any ideas please.

Regards

One method:

Depending how complex the level borders are (you may find this a pita), you could have duplicate or callout views for each level just for room numbers. Adjust each crop region to show that level only.

Then place & align the views on a sheet, & turn off the crop region.

This method assures that your room #'s correspond to the correct level.

And I have a similar problem but with 4 possibly 5 levels

Nice Idea Andrew its a good workaround but I know that my parameters are set correctly and its not doing what it should and (toys out of the pram) I want to know why.

I'm glad Roger has posted that he has encountered a similar problem also as it saved me telephoning him for advise.

I have sent the drawing to my Revit Dealer and he is looking into it at the moment.

Does any one else have any ideas ot is it a known quirk.

PS I am still on Revit 6.1.

Hi Guys

My Revit Dealer has come up the solution - Well done Roy of 3 Ways Design

There is a setting its under: Setting > Area Setting > Room Calculations.

You can set the height above the level at which the room area is calculated, With my problem my cut plane level was only 60mm under the top of the walls that I wanted to be included in the room area calculation but my Room Calculation height was set to 1200.

I set this variable to 0 and it works a treat.

Finally, glad to give something back to this site, its great.

Merry Christmas from Wales
