wall and column

Please see the attached file.
I want the walls to stop and the face of the column. But they just automatically "blend in" and "join" together. The walls are supposed to have the cross hatch pattern, and the column has the concrete pattern.

How do I make the walls stop and not join the column?

1. Highlight the wall.

2. Select the blue dot at the end where it intersects the column.

3. Right click, and select "disallow join".

4. Pull the wall away from the column.

5. Use align command to align end of wall to face of column.

Thanks for the suggestion.

It let me "disallow the join" at the blue dot of the end of the wall. But once I align with the face of column to the face of the end of the wall. The hatch pattern becomes the same (cross hatch) on both the column and wall. Is there something I missed?

Yes--I had to change the column to Structural, and then the conc. hatch remains.
