Is there anyway to turn off the create new local check box by default when a workshared project is selected?
I know there's a number of reasons why it's such a great feature, but we prefer to open to the server directly so I have default location of user files set to the server, well this checkbox now creates a mess of files and directorys in a location that I don't want them.

I'm not sure how/if you can turn it off. Perhaps in Revit .ini or somewhere in API?
But I believe you can set the path where local copies are saved so it is consistent for all users, under Options>File Locations>Default Path for User Files.
There may be a way to control this globally from the Server? instead of setting this on each machine.
We just set the path on all users' machines, but we only have about 20 users;
in a large office this would need to be globally managed with a script or something.
cheers

.... under Options>File Locations>Default Path for User Files....This is where I want users to save things (the network) which makes sense most of the time for our workflow, but if we open a workset file just to look at it or export something out of it... a local file gets created. Typical user's memories are not that great when they are not doing something everday to be reminded to look for it... Plus they have no way to know a file is worksetted currently without moving they're eyes down to see a tiny check box. I'm guessing I'm going to have to set the default path back to each users C drive as I'm not seeing anything in the revit.ini to control this. Pity.

I pathed ours to C:/Temp, for local files, and then just put a shortcut to the network directory in there. Its one extra click to get to the network, they can use Create New Local, and you wont accidentally get rogue family content and random Local files on the network.
