Hopefully someone here can help faster than contracting AD support.
I was looking through the User Guide just now at a range of things and hit links to a wide variety of stuff and you get taken to a page that says the information has been moved or updated ("the page you were looking for was not found") .
There are so many dead links in this document its pretty much unusable.
I don't want to go and download another copy of the User Guide at 35 mb unless it is amended.
Has anyone else found large numbers of missing sections from the 2011 User Guide / online Help ?
thanks in advance

This happened to me earlier today, specifically with regards to the new grid tool for aligning views on sheets. The page seems to have just disappeared from the site. I'm thinking that informing ADesk will probably be the best approach.

I thought the point about online help was that it would be cheaper to maintain an up to the minute information and so forth. In this case, it seems that the number of linked items missing in action is significant and I wondered if things are being updated right now and this is why they are not available in the online Help sections......
At least (most ?) of this information is accessible via the User Guide, however if there is a later version, you won't know about it and with no other notification.
Why have the online system if it is missing such a mass of information so as to function as a very limited manner...perhaps it could be re-named as Online Help - Limited Edition ? yuk yuk.

There was an update that occured which inadvertantly took down some sections of the on-line help. The problems started sometime on 8/25 and were corrected 8/26. I believe the online help should be functioning correctly now.

Hi ,
thanks Jeff H, it does seem to be OK today...does the system not default to hard drive if the online system is down ? or has a notable problem ?
I think sticking to the User Guide on the drive is going to be more reliable than an online system from now on.
thanks

The check is not that advanced. it just looks to see if you have a connection to the internet. If you do, you are directed online, if you do not, you are directed to the local copy.
If the online site happens to be broken you go to the broken page. A unique set of circumstances led to the pages being down the other day. I would not anticipate that being a "normal" problem.
If you want to force a local lookup instead you can.

Because of our Internet filter and virus protection, the on-line HELP is just too slow so we defaulted all of our stations to look at the local HELP. We know that the on-line may be up-to-date but we feel the difference is insignificant.
