Plan dimensions and notes on Sheets. Do you add them to your original plan or do you make a duplicate of it first? Where do you place your annotations other than sections and elevations?

I think it depends on how you need to use them. I know we will take our plan notes and put them in a legend, (mainly because a legend can be put on multiple sheets, and if our views need the same plan notes in the instance of a large building being broken up.) Otherwise if the dimensions and annotations need to be the same on your duplicate views I would place them first then duplicate the view. Will save you from doing the same work over and over. You can always go back and delete the annotations and it will only affect that view.

I always work with a 'working plan' for modeling, and a 'sheet view' for each plan.
The 'sheet view' will usually have dependent views for tiling on multiple sheets.

djc's method is my preferred method too. You can change the browser organisation to 'not on sheets' in order for the sheet views to not group under the plans, but rather under the sheets, which stops users accidentally editing them.
