View Full Version : Structural framing under slab

Probably the next question has already been answered, but I can't find it.

I have a concrete frame building. According to the drawing standards, the slab formwork plan, is made by cutting right below the beams and look up.
So in my plan I see:
-the edge of the slab (and the edge of the openings)
-the framing system (beam) with solid line
-the columns with solid line and hatched.

I've tried to "play" with the view range, but I haven't found where to change the option to "Look up". The plans are good for architects, but I need structural plans.

I have an atachment with a floor plan. Is it possible to do this in Revit?

Theres no 'look up' setting, so your not missing anything.
I assume what you kind of want is like a Reflected Ceiling plan (take a look at ceiling views from revit)

I always look down for my framework drawings, and by default the beams will show dotted, you can override this dotted line by Visibility Graphics, then Structural Framework, then Hidden lines (and pick what your want.)
You can change settings for columns etc as well if you like.
Then save a View Template for this plan, and you can apply this View Template to other plan views.

Only thing is that your columns will be cut above the floor (so level above) not a problem if they are 1 column going through multi levels, if you have 1 column per level and the size diminishes going up you could always hide the columns on the upper floor so you only see the ones below, bit of a hassle though.

Hope this helps a little..

In the Structural Plan type properties set the view direction to up.

In the type properties of a floor plan view is the option to look up or down.
